Folk from around the east midlands gathered in Nottingham for a week of workshops, discussion and action around the issue of climate change. The event was organised under the banner of ‘Spring Into Action’, and besides a lot of talking, the week ended with some succesful direct action. This is what some of the participants had to say… The piece is about 8 minutes long.

A Radio Piece

Friday, April 6

I spent the last few days recording and editing a radio piece about the nuclear submarine base at Faslane, Scotland where the UK keeps its nuclear arsenal. The Trident Missile System is up for renewal in 2024 and groups from all over the UK and beyond have started to blockade the base one day each, with the aim of a solid blockade all year round. So far its been really succesful and a big group from Nottingham went on 1st April to do their bit. We turned out, did some recording and I cobbled together this radio piece which might be broadcasted on some community radio stations around the UK this week. The piece is 11 minutes long.

A Free Paper For Free Kids!

Monday, February 26

Based in New York and mainly covering US related issues, I still think this something worth sharing. I wrote something short for this month’s issue on climate change. ‘IndyKids is a new free newspaper that aims to educate children on current news and world events from a progressive perspective and to inspire in children a passion for social justice and learning. It is geared toward kids in grades 4 to 8. Indy Kids is produced with the support of Indymedia New York City and individual donations.’ Wicked!
